10th World Water Forum In Indonesia’s Bali To Yield 120 Strategic Projects Valued at US$9.4 Billion

BALI (Indonesia), May 18 (Bernama) -- The 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Indonesia, running from today until 25 May in Nusa Dua, Bali, will witness the formalisation of about 120 strategic projects related to water and sanitation worth US$9.4 billion, according to the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs.

Its minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, highlighted that these projects include a follow-up to Indonesia’s initiative at the G20 in 2022, specifically the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA).

“The G20 Bali GBFA, which aims to support funding for climate action and tackle the global water crisis, will have its Secretariat launched on May 20.

“On the same day, Letters of Intent with several countries, designated as Founding Members, will be signed,” he said in a statement.

Luhut also emphasised that 13,448 participants from 148 countries will attend the forum, including eight heads of state and government, three special envoys, and 38 ministers among the VVIP delegations.

“There is increasing interest in this event. We have members of parliament from various countries, regional representatives, associations, private companies, and youth,” he added.

The forum, held every three years and jointly organised by the World Water Council and the host country, aims to foster global collaborative relationships and promote joint action in addressing new and emerging water management issues through integrated solutions.

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, will lead Malaysia’s delegation to the forum at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
