CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Mentor quarterback and Chicago Bears rookie Mitchell Trubisky was 18-of-25 passing for 166 yards and a touchdown Thursday night in his preseason debut.
The Bears lost to Denver, 24-17, in Chicago.
Trubisky's first and only touchdown pass came with 16 seconds left in the first half to cap a six-play, 50-yard drive. He found Victor Cruz on a 2-yard score.
Chicago took a 14-10 lead in the third quarter, but did not score again.
Trubisky passed more than the other five quarterbacks who saw action. Mike Glennon, signed in the offseason by Chicago before it drafted Trubisky, was just 2-of-8 for 20 yards and an interception. Mark Sanchez finished 1-of-4. Meanwhile, Paxton Lynch threw the most among Broncos QBs and finished 6-of-9.
Trubisky also carried the ball three times for 38 yards.
