A Farmington Hills woman accused of sexually assaulting two boys at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility was formally charged Monday, according to officials and court records.

Former juvenile detention center employee Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, was charged in 31st District Court in Hamtramck with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a county prisoner, each a 15-year felony, records said.

A judge set her bond at $75,000 and scheduled her next court hearing for May 16, according to the court.

"Ms. Kuryanova has never been in any trouble before and certainly has never been accused of something like this in the past," her attorney, Samuel Bennett, told The Detroit News in an email. "She’s a single mother raising her two children. She denies the allegations and looks forward to her case progressing."

On Saturday, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's Office said it had authorized charges against Kuryanova. It alleges she assaulted a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old at the facility about 7 p.m. on April 8. The facility is in the 3500 block of Hamtramck Drive.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.

Earlier this year, the Michigan Department of Health and Human released the results of its review of alleged misconduct at the beleaguered facility. It said more than 80% of the issues cited in state reports are staffing-related.
