Ameer Abdullah runs against the Jets during first-quarter action Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Ford Field is open for business.

Tonight, the Detroit Lions hosted the New York Jets in the second of four exhibition games in preparation for the 2017 NFL season. They won 16-6 to improve to 2-0 in preseason play.

Read the recap of all the action below!

Fourth quarter updates

10:25 p.m.: How about Rolan Milligan! He makes the nice interception in the end zone to seal the Lions' preseason win. That'll do it from Ford Field. Another decent performance, especially by the first team, but let's see what the Lions do against the Patriots next weekend before we start buying playoff tickets. LIONS 16, JETS 6, FINAL.

10:23 p.m.: Some third-team offensive stats: Quarterback Brad Kaaya finishes 4-for-7 for 38 yards. Dwayne Washington ends up with 8 carries for 24 yards to lead the running backs (Matt Asiata had 5 carries for 10 yards). Jace Billingsley had 3 catches for 29 yards. Michael Roberts, 2 catches for 29 yards.

10:19 p.m.: Neither of these teams are any fun. The Lions opt to kick it on fourth-and-1, but Matt Prater nails it from 50 yards, his third field goal of the game. He's in midseason form and the Lions are going to go 2-0 in preseason play. LIONS 16, JETS 6, 1:11 4Q.

10:15 p.m.: The Lions are finally moving the football again. Brad Kaaya finds Jared Abbrederis for a nice first-down effort, then running back Tion Green rushes for 10 yards on first down. They're back in Jets territory and - suddenly - we're at the two-minute warning.

10:11 p.m.: Nice return by ex-Spartan Keshawn Martin, getting out to the Lions' 38-yard line. He's still in the game as a wideout.

10:07 p.m.: The Jets threatened again, largely thanks to a 28-yard defensive pass interference penalty on the Lions' Josh Thornton, a UDFA signee, but they stalled inside the red zone and opt for a field goal with 5:30 remaining in the game. Why not go for it on fourth down there? LIONS 13, JETS 6, 5:30 4Q.

9:59 p.m.: This Lions third-team offense needs some work. Their second chance went worse than the previous thanks to an offensive holding penalty and an intentional grounding by Kaaya. Then the third-down pass went to nobody on what looked like a screen call. Lions punt it back. No penalty this time. Jets ball.

9:55 p.m.: Not so fast! These are the Jets they're playing against. The Lions draw a roughing-the-punter penalty, which is 15 yards and an automatic first down. Give it another shot, Kaaya.

9:54 p.m.: The Lions couldn't get anything going that drive thanks to some pretty poor protection from the reserve linemen. Brad Kaaya sacked for a 6-yard loss, leading to a negative drive and another Lions punt.

9:49 p.m.: They did it! The Jets did it! They get on the board with a 31-yard field goal by Ross Martin. Bryce Petty was a little off on a couple passes late in that drive into the end zone to set up the fourth down. Brad Kaaya will get another shot to add some points for the Lions in this meaningless game. LIONS 13, JETS 3, 11:10 4Q.

9:45 p.m.: A couple of nice catches by Miles White for a combined 36 yards has the Jets threatening to score for the first time this game. They're inside the Lions' 15-yard line. Can they do it?

Third quarter updates

9:40 p.m.: As the Fox broadcast mentions, Bryce Petty looks solid for the Jets so far. 7-for-9 for 62 yards, compared to Christian Hackenberg's 2-for-6 for 14 yards. To be fair, Petty's also facing the Lions' defensive reserves, which are already thin, especially on the line.

Meanwhile, the third quarter comes to a close, with neither team scoring. The Lions remain ahead 13-0.

9:38 p.m.: Brad Kaaya completes a 14-yard pass to Dez Stewart on his first play from scrimmage, but little else. Dwayne Washington with two more carries for 7 yards. Lions punt. (As you can tell, we're entering the dog days of this game.)

9:33 p.m.: As expected, the Jets go three-and-out under the leadership of quarterback Bryce Petty. The Lions take over at their own 33-yard line ... and Brad Kaaya, the sixth-round rookie out of Miami, is now in for Rudock. 3:31 left in the third quarter, still 13-0.

9:26 p.m.: A false start on that drive prompts another Lions punt. To be fair, Jake Rudock looks pretty solid tonight outside that interception earlier this quarter. He's 8f-ro-13 for 84 yards so far. Matt Asiata had a 9-yard catch on that drive. The Jets will take over at their own 11. They need 89 yards for a touchdown. Judging by what we've seen so far this game, that could take a miracle.

9:19 p.m.: The Jets attempt a 56-yard field goal for some reason ... and miss. They remain scoreless in this game. Nice pass break-up by the Lions' D.J. Hayden on that last drive.

9:14 p.m.: A couple Lions links to share with you all as we wind through this second half:

 • Watch Marvin Jones' touchdown celebration with teammates

 • First-half observations: Matthew Stafford and the defense look good

9:12 p.m.: Well, nevermind. Bad pass by Jake Rudock leads to a Jets interception that's returned 23 yards to New York's 41-yard line. It's possible Rudock was expecting a different route there from Dwayne Washington, but it looked like a pretty terrible decision.

Also, the Lions announced that T.J. Jones is out the rest of the game with a hamstring injury.

9:07 p.m.: The Lions go three-and-out to start the third quarter, mustering 9 yards. But not to fear! The Jets - being the Jets - muffed the punt return and the Lions' Robert Tonyan recovers at the Jets' 25-yard line. The Lions offense, just like that, is back in business with a gift.

9:04 p.m.: T.J. Lang said on Fox that it was good to get back onto the field, but also said he's got a lot to get better at. This was his first preseason action and his first game in a Lions uniform.

Second quarter updates

8:53 p.m.: And that brings us to halftime. 13-0 Lions. Long story short, the Lions look sharp this game so far, but they're playing one of the worst teams in the league. Take this one with a major grain of salt. But still an impressive look.  Some stats:

Matthew Stafford: 8-for-10, 84 yards, TD

Ameer Abdullah: 4 carries, 16 yards

Marvin Jones: 4 catches, 34 yards, TD

Golden Tate: 2 catches, 34 yards

Cornelius Washington, Akeem Spence: 1 sack each.

INJURIES: Wide receiver T.J. Jones walked to the locker room with trainers in the second quarter; the extent of his injury is unknown. We also saw running back Dwayne Washington limp off the field late in the second quarter; his injury is unknown as well.

8:49 p.m.: Jake Rudock couldn't quite punch this Lions drive into the end zone. Matt Prater connects on a 25-yard field goal with 9 seconds left in the half. LIONS 13, JETS 0, 0:09 2Q.

8:44 p.m.: Michael Roberts - the fourth-round rookie tight end out of Toledo - with the nice first-down grab on a nice laser pass from Rudock. He had an issue with ball security last week in Indianapolis. Meanwhile, Dwayne Washington limps off the field as the Lions line up for first-and-goal.

8:40 p.m.: It appears T.J. Jones may have suffered an injury. Is the Kenny Golladay show in full effect now?

8:39 p.m.: Jace Billingsley, who racked up some decent stats in last year's preseason, is at it again with a couple impressive first downs on short passes from Rudock. Rudock also found Dwayne Washington on a nice, wide-open pass down the middle for another 11 yards and a first down. The Lions are in Jets territory at the 2-minute warning, still up 10-0.

8:35 p.m.: Another stalled Jets drive that never really had a chance to get going, thanks to a 10-yard penalty on first down that made it 1st and 20. The Lions take over at their own 7-yard line, led by Jake Rudock. Matt Asiata's in the game at running back; Ameer Abdullah had 4 carries for 16 yards today.

8:28 p.m.: Look at this touchdown celebration from Marvin Jones and teammates. As you can tell, these are now allowed by the NFL.

8:26 p.m.: Not a great start for Jake Rudock, who goes 3-and-out on his first drive, including a fumble that he recovered himself.

8:23 p.m.: Well, so much for that. Christian Hackenberg throws an incomplete while trying to pull the ball down; was almost a fumble, but not quite. Either way, it's Lions ball again, with Jamal Agnew taking the punt that time for 6 yards to the Lions' 13-yard line. Still 10-0 Lions.

Looks like Jake Rudock is stepping into the game now, so Stafford's day is done. Very nice stat line: 8-for-10, 84 yards, TD.

8:19 p.m.: The Jets finally get a first down, albeit barely. The Lions got good outside pressure onto Hackenberg on third down, but he was able to scramble up the middle, just out of the reach of Anthony Zettel, for 12 yards and a first. Another 17-yard pass later and, suddenly, the Jets are at midfield.

8:15 p.m.: Matthew Stafford is 8-for-10 for 84 yards and a touchdown. Solid stat line, if that's the end of the day for him. Christian Hackenberg is 0-for-2 for, well, zero yards. Also worth noting, per Lions beat writer Dave Birkett: Kenny Golladay was not on the field in the Lions' red-zone offense despite his size. T.J. Jones got the third WR snaps there.

8:12 p.m.: What a catch by Marvin Jones! Matthew Stafford found him on a fade to the back of the corner end zone with a perfect 5-yard pass. That's the first touchdown of the preseason for the first-team offense. LIONS 10, JETS 0, 14:18 2Q.

First quarter updates

8:08 p.m.: End of the first quarter. Lions still up 3-0 on Jets, but they're threatening inside the Jets' 10- And the Jets haven't gotten anything going yet; they have 3 total yards on 9 plays so far.

8:05 p.m.: Marvin Jones makes up for a first-down drop by making a nice third-down catch on a slant for 8 yards and a first. Stafford finds Tate on a nice play-action pass along the right sideline, then a 10-yard run by Zach Zenner and another first-down catch by Jones. The Lions are driving.

8:00 p.m.: The Lions first-team stays on the field, but Kenny Golladay comes back out for T.J. Jones as the third wideout.

7:57 p.m.: A'Shawn Robinson is looking outstanding. First-down sack on Hackenberg this drive for a 5-yard loss, which the Jets couldn't recover from after a couple runs by Bilal Powell. Another three-and-out. Keep in mind, though, these are the Jets we're watching.

7:53 p.m.: The Lions are trying to get Ameer Abdullah going in the running game, but were stuffed on first and second down. Then Matthew Stafford threw an awkward pass near the middle of the field to Golden Tate that almost gets picked off on the tip. Three-and-out for the offense.  Not great protection from the line on that drive.

7:48 p.m.: Glover Quin needs to work on his hands! The Lions safety just missed an interception on a tipped pass from Hackenberg on third down. That said, the Lions defense still forced a punt and continues to look pretty strong early on. You can see A'Shawn Robinson still getting penetration in the middle of the line, like we saw last week.

7:44 p.m.: Indeed, T.J. Lang is in the lineup tonight, making his Lions debut after missing last week. As for the rest of the Lions offense, not a bad start, though they got stalled after a sack on Matthew Stafford. Matt Prater connects on the 37-yard field goal to make it LIONS 3, JETS 0 early.

7:39 p.m.: What a start by the defense. Who needs depth at the defensive end position? Cornelius Washington basically went untouched on third down to force a sack on Jets QB Christian Hackenberg and fumble, which was recovered by the Jets. Lions start their first drive in Jets territory.

Pregame updates

7:30 p.m.: We're minutes - maybe even second away - from kickoff. We can already see the changes at Ford Field, which underwent $100 million in renovations over the off-season. There are new video boards that stretch all the way across the stadium, a new sound system and some new concession & concourse offerings.

Oh, and there's new "LIONS" end zone lettering, per the team's rebranding and uniform change.

7:16 p.m.: A couple on-field pregame preparation updates from Lions beat writer Dave Birkett.
