Mitsubishi mid-May rolled out plans for how it envisions its next few years in this country — and it involves a whole slew of fresh product. This is good news for its dealer body, a group of 97 Canadian stores whose owners met in Nashville earlier this week for a look-see at what’s in the pipe.

And, may we say, it’s more than some folks might expect. The teaser image shown at the top of this post identifies seven different vehicles, not all of which seem to be trim variants of each other.

Smack-dab in the centre is a van-like rig, standing tall and narrow just like the – gasp! – iconic Delica van which has long held the attention of fans who’ve mostly only admired that Japan-only model from across the pond [yes, you can import 'http://driving.cahem to Canada, now, but even on the West Coast, they’re not plentiful —Ed.]. The remainder appear to look suspiciously like crossovers, a revelation which should surprise no one, given the buying preferences of today’s consumers.

Still, there’s much to digest. The rig in the top left has a lighting signature unlike anything else in the shot, and looks to be a mite boxier than its cousins, as well. Could we be looking at a Montero reprise? Outlander and RVR models are given away by their headlights, but the other trio are a mystery. Aggressive brightening of the shot revealed little, but it’s fun to look, anyway.

Fuelling speculation is a commitment from Mitsu that it will see two all-new vehicles debut into segments in which the company does not currently compete, as well as a new or completely refreshed vehicle to debut each year between fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2030. “By 2030, Mitsubishi Motors’ vehicle lineup in Canada will be expanded significantly,” the company said in a statement. This is good news.

The entire plan is called Momentum 2030, and is defined by key points such as a clear path to electrification, plus a “renewed and expanded product lineup that will strengthen Mitsubishi Motors in Canada.” Note this decree doesn’t limit the brand solely to EVs, with the company saying its upcoming vehicle lineup will be powered by a selection of internal-combustion engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electrics.
