Delhi thirsts for water, but network of hauz, baoli and nullah once fed it

A parched Delhi is fighting with neighbouring states for water. The centre of power for centuries, Delhi, with an arid climate, always faced water issues. But the rulers found a way to beat Delhi's topography by building a network of hauz, baoli and nullah to slake the thirst of its residents.

Built during the times of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya in 1321-22, the Nizamuddin Baoli is the only Baoli in Delhi which still has underground springs. (Image: Getty)
