The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office on Friday announced charges against a Detroit man accused in another driver's death following an alleged road rage incident last month.

Desmond Burks, 33, allegedly punched Reda Saleh after the 67-year-old man allegedly bumped into Burks' car from behind, the Prosecutor's Office said in a release.

Burks left Saleh lying in the street after the argument April 17 before fleeing the scene at the intersection of West Chicago and Greenfield Road, according to the statement.

Detroit police found Saleh unconscious and medics took the Dearborn man to a local hospital.

Saleh died of his injuries on May 11, officials said.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charged Burks with second-degree murder, according to the release.

Magistrate Malaika Ramsey-Heath arraigned Burks on Thursday at the 36th District Court, setting a $1 million bond with the condition that he wear a GPS tether and remain under house arrest if posting it.

His probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 24. A preliminary examination follows on May 30.

Burks' attorney, Jamil Kamel Khuja, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
