Policy Analysis
Larry Levitt oversees the work of all KFF health policy analysis teams.
Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Examining changes in the private insurance market under the ACA, with a particular focus on the implications for the cost and accessibility of insurance coverage.
Global Health & HIV Policy
KFF’s global health policy work focuses on providing the latest data and information on the U.S. role in global health to offer a comprehensive picture of the U.S. global health policy landscape, focusing on key issues facing policymakers, journalists, non-governmental organizations, and others working in the global health arena. This program also includes KFF’s LGBTQ project and work on HIV domestically.

The Health Care Marketplace
KFF provides information and analysis about the health care market, including trends in employer coverage, health care costs, and health care services.
Medicaid and the Uninsured
KFF conducts research and analyzes health care coverage and access for low-income people, with special focus on the Medicaid program and coverage of the uninsured.

Patient and Consumer Protections
KFF provides information and policy analysis about what consumers and patients face as they navigate the health care system, including financial barriers, administrative complexity, lack of transparency, and problems accessing providers.
Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker
KFF partners with the Peterson Center on Healthcare on a tracker that monitors how well the U.S. health care system is performing in terms of quality and cost.
Project on Hospital Costs
This projects examines hospital costs and finances, as well as the business practices of hospitals, with a particular focus on affordability.
Racial Equity and Health Policy
Our work on racial equity and health policy examines health and health care disparities affecting people of color and underserved groups as well as policy efforts to advance racial equity in health and health care. Our work focuses on the intersection of racism and discrimination, social and economic inequities, and health, as well as the health and health care needs of underserved populations. This program also includes a project on immigration policy and health.
State Health Policy and Data
KFF manages and produces state-level data on a wide range of health topics, including health coverage and access, health care spending, population health, and disparities in health and health care.
Women’s Health Policy
KFF’s work on women’s health policy provides timely analysis of the health policies that shape women’s access to care and coverage throughout their lifespan.

Polling
Public Opinion & Survey Research
The public opinion and survey research team conducts and analyzes original research on Americans’ attitudes, knowledge, and experiences with the health care system with the goal of amplifying the public’s voice in major national debates, particularly the voice of often-disenfranchised groups, such as the low income and uninsured populations.
Journalism
KFF Health News
KFF Health News is a national newsroom that produces original journalism about health issues and is one of the core operating programs at KFF. The news service is dedicated to in-depth reporting on complex health policy issues, and health system changes, with a focus on people.

Health Misinformation and Trust
The Health Misinformation and Trust Initiative
The Health Misinformation and Trust Initiative is a new KFF program aimed at tracking health misinformation in the U.S, analyzing its impact on the American people, and mobilizing media to address the problem. Our goal is to be of service to everyone in the health misinformation and trust field and to help efforts to counter misinformation, build trust, and be more effective.

An ongoing and regularly-updated KFF resource for faculty, students, and others explaining the basics on a wide range of topics about health programs and policy in the United States.

Public Health Information Campaigns
Social Impact Media
KFF’s Social Impact Media program works with health departments, community organizations, media and other corporate partners on specialized public health campaigns under the Greater Than initiative, notably Greater Than HIV. Other topics include sexually transmitted diseases, mpox and, previously, a large-scale COVID-19 vaccine information campaign.
