The Kohl’s at 6900 Hamilton Blvd. in Upper Macungie Township’s Trexler Mall has been selected as one of 200 in the country to host a Babies “R” Us shop— what the brand is terming an “experience” — within the store.

The mini-shop within the store will contain a “curated assortment of the latest baby gear, furniture, activity, accessories, and more.” Customers will also be able to get other baby goods from Kohl’s existing section for babies.

The company said it could not provide further information as to when the Babies “R” Us experience would be opening.

The experience marks a comeback of sorts for Babies “R” Us, which shut down after its parent company, Toys R Us, filed for bankruptcy in 2018. Babies “R” Us had a storefront at 600 Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall that shut down after it liquidated its products; the space currently houses craft store Michael’s.

The partnership between Kohl’s and Babies “R” Us is designed to bring a new demographic of customers to the department store, “[introducing] more new customers to Kohl’s, including younger customers who will be choosing Kohl’s for the first time,” according to a report from USA Today in March.

The partnership won’t be physically much different from Kohl’s current partnership with makeup brand Sephora, which has its own counterspace and layout within many Kohl’s across the country.
