WB I-94 closed after semitractor- trailer strikes overpass in Detroit

A semitractor-trailer struck an overpass in Detroit and authorities closed a portion of Interstate 94 for an investigation and cleanup, state officials said.

Parts of Interstate 94 were closed Wednesday after a semi-tractor trailer struck an overpass near Van Dyke Street in Detroit, May 1, 2024.

All westbound lanes of I-94 were closed near Van Dyke Street, Michigan State Police said. No injuries were reported.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

"The freeway is currently closed," said MSP Second District on X.

The Michigan Department of Transportation reported on X that exits at Van Dyke Street and Gratiot Avenue were closed following the crash.
