An Amtrak train struck a man walking on the tracks in Ypsilanti on Monday, officials said.

Emergency responders with Huron Valley Ambulance arrived to the scene around 1:30 p.m. to find the man conscious and alert, said Marc Breckenridge, a spokesperson with the Washtenaw County company.

First responders transported the man to Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor in stable condition, he said.

Amtrak train 350 was en route to Detroit and Pontiac from Chicago when the incident occurred, the company said. The train was delayed for around three hours while officials responded.

Other details were not released.

Ypsilanti police did not immediately respond to requests for further information Tuesday.
