Deadline Hollywood (Deadline.com) first began in March 2006 as Deadline Hollywood Daily, the 24/7 Internet version of Nikki Finke’s long-running LA Weekly “Deadline Hollywood” print column. In 2009, Nikki’s site was purchased by PMC (formerly known as Mail.com Media Corporation). It has become the authoritative source for breaking news in the entertainment industry and readers check the site multiple times each day. Deadline Hollywood is regularly included on lists of top entertainment websites. Influential industry leaders and key decision-makers across many fields track Deadline many times a day and its postings regularly receive more reader comments than all of the entertainment industry news sites combined.
Mike joined Deadline in 2010 after working at Variety for 20 years as a reporter, writer and columnist. He was not only nationally recognized as Variety's premiere film reporter but also for his “Dish” and “The Buzz” columns. Mike is known for his industry relationships and his ability to break news wherever it happens, including on the ground at festivals like Sundance, Cannes and Toronto. He also is an author: Doubleday published his book about The Three Stooges, "From Amalgamated Morons to American Icons," which ABC turned into a telepic executive produced by Mel Gibson. One of Mike’s early jobs in journalism was editor of the well-known Media Industry Newsletter (MIN). He then joined New York Newsday as a columnist, reviewer and entertainment writer. During his career, he has written for numerous magazines including Playboy, Details, TV Guide and Esquire.
Nellie's insightful analysis and thorough coverage of TV deals, pilot season, markets and executives makes her one of the most respected journalists covering the television business today. Before joining Deadline in 2010, Nellie worked for 10 years at The Hollywood Reporter where she covered TV for the trade's online and print editions. Before that, she worked as a journalist covering television and radio for Investor’s Business Daily. Nellie’s interest in the television industry extends back to her homeland of Bulgaria, where she first became a journalist and then a producer, writer and director for Bulgarian National Television.
Pete, widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent awards analysts for both film and television, has for the past 14 years been Deadline's Awards Columnist covering the year-round Oscar and Emmy seasons. He is also Deadline's Chief Film Critic, having previously reviewed films for MovieLine, Boxoffice magazine, Backstage, Hollywood.com and Maxim, as well as Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide for which he was a contributing editor. In addition to writing, Pete is also host of the PBS SoCal Cinema Series and the weekly PBS television series "Must See Movies." He previously held producing positions at "Entertainment Tonight", "Extra," "Access Hollywood," "The Arsenio Hall Show," "The Martin Short Show" and AMC Networks and is the recipient of five Emmy nominations for writing. Pete is only the second journalist to have received the Publicists Guild of America’s Press Award twice, in 1996 and 2013.
Joe oversees Deadline’s awards coverage, including its dedicated print magazine for the Oscar and Emmy seasons, AwardsLine. He also edits Deadline's special “Disruptors” edition for the Cannes Film Festival and serves as the emcee for its Contenders events. He has been aboard since 2012. Prior to joining, his work regularly appeared in his native UK - for outlets including The Sunday Times and The Guardian - and around the world. He has also worked extensively in film and television, producing EPK and production notes and working as a unit publicist. He is a member of BAFTA and has sat on multiple juries for the BAFTA Film Awards.
Baz joined Deadline in 2022 after three decades as entertainment columnist for the U.K. Daily Mail, where he covered film, theatre and television in London, New York and Hollywood. Prior to that he was based in New York for three years for The Sun. He covered crime & entertainment for the London Evening Standard; before that he worked for local newspapers, and got his start at a London news agency covering general news, criminal courts and entertainment. He has won a U.K. Press Award for show business reporter of the year and received a special British Independent Film Award for services to indie film. He supports Arsenal FC. On occasion he is known to sing. Please don’t allow him to do this.
Patrick joined Deadline in 2011 and works closely with the editorial team running the site's day-to-day news operations. He came from The Hollywood Reporter, where he spent seven years as a Copy Editor, Copy Chief and finally Assistant Managing Editor. Before THR, he worked on the news and sports desks at the Orange County Register. He started his career as a sportswriter at the Los Angeles Daily News and at his hometown paper The Oregonian.
Denise spent 18 years with The Associated Press before joining Deadline in 2012. Previously she was Breaking News Editor in the AP’s Los Angeles bureau, responsible for writing, reporting, editing and filing to online, newspaper and broadcast subscribers throughout California and the world. Previously, she worked at AP’s Broadcast News Center in Washington DC for the AP Radio Network. Early on in her career, she was at KNX-AM in L.A. and on the assignment desk at CNN L.A. She has won numerous awards from AP, Southern California Radio Television News Association and Society of Professional Journalists.
Erik has been a full-time journalist in Los Angeles for more than 35 years, the past 27 covering Hollywood. Before joining Deadline in 2013, he spent nearly 17 years at The Hollywood Reporter, rising to managing editor. He also wrote about music for THR; did hundreds of concert and TV reviews; covered such events as the Cannes Film Festival, NATPE and MIFED; and worked closely with the web team. Before that he was a cities editor at The Orange County Register after serving as managing editor of the Los Angeles Daily Commerce.
Peter moved to Deadline in 2016 from his longtime home at Variety, where he had been a fixture since 1989 as that trade's Editor-In Chief. He began his career as a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times before his entry into the movie business, becoming Vice President for Production at Paramount. At that studio, he played a key role in such films as The Godfather, Rosemary’s Baby and Harold & Maude. He later served as Senior Vice President for Production at MGM and, later, as President of Lorimar films. Peter is also the author of nine books, and is a member of PMC's board of advisors.
Dominic covers litigious Hollywood’s major lawsuits and weighs in on the current Golden Age of television with his video reviews and more. Before joining Deadline in 2012, he wrote for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Times, and the Toronto Globe and Mail. A frequent guest on NPR, Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC and CBS, he also has been a documentary director, TV producer, national news correspondent and a newspaper editor.
Antonia has contributed to Deadline and AwardsLine’s print magazines since 2014. A native Brit based in LA, prior to joining she covered West Coast entertainment for ELLE.com, and her work has been featured in The Guardian, UK Marie Claire and InStyle. She has written a New York Times bestselling non-fiction book and regularly appears on French television network TF1 as an entertainment expert.
Katie joined Deadline in 2022 from TheWrap, where she also covered the television industry. She also has worked for The Hollywood Reporter, The Associated Press, People Magazine, and more. Katie is from Florida and earned her degree in journalism from the University of Florida. She is based in Los Angeles.
Matthew Carey joined Deadline fulltime in 2020, after a long association as a freelancer, to specialize in coverage of the nonfiction film landscape. Matthew is a writer and producer whose work has appeared on CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español. He has written extensively about documentary film for CNN and CNN.com, Documentary magazine, NBCNews.com and TheWrap.
Michael has covered the business and culture of film as a reporter and editor for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal and others. He has written for Deadline since 2016. Earlier, he was a Los Angeles-based editor for the online news service Inside.com, and in the 1990s worked as a film and television producer. A native of Western Pennsylvania, Cieply lived there and in the Detroit area before attending the University of Michigan, and then graduate school at Stanford University. He has lived in Southern California since 1982, when he joined Forbes Magazine as a correspondent in its Los Angeles bureau.
Valerie joined Deadline in September 2021 from Gizmodo's genre news site io9 and a freelance writing career that includes bylines at Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Collider, Conde Nast, Harper’s Bazaar and many others. A writer of graphic novels and screenplays and a lover of all things film, she is part of Deadline's reviews team and is co-host of Deadline's New Hollywood podcast, where she will continue to amplify voices from marginalized communities. She is based in New York.
Rosy joined Deadline in July 2021 as Senior TV Reporter, where she will cover the small-screen industry, continue to lift up talent from marginalized communities, spearhead Deadline’s Diversity & Inclusion coverage and co-host the New Hollywood podcast. She previously worked at Entertainment Weekly, where she had been a digital news writer the past two years. Before that in her freelance career she wrote for Deadline, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Latina.com and the New York Daily News. She is based in Los Angeles.
Anthony covers box office, breaking film news, awards-season features and festival news. His first job in the film industry was at Savoy Pictures' headquarters in New York where he worked in film distribution. In the summer of 1999, he was hired by Variety and moved to Los Angeles, and remained in the newsroom covering numerous parts of the industry, including box office, for about a decade. Prior to arriving at Deadline in the fall of 2011, where he co-edited the site's sister publication Awardsline, Anthony covered the box office beat for Indiewire's Thompson on Hollywood. He also co-produced Matt Walsh's film "A Better You."
Greg joined the Deadline staff in 2017 from Bloomberg News, where he was the TV and Film critic. He previously was a staff editor and/or reporter at Variety, Daily Variety and TV Guide Magazine. His features and criticism on arts and entertainment have appeared in the New York Times, Vulture, Slate, Newsweek, Yahoo News and Guitar World Magazine.
Ryan joined Deadline in March 2021 as Assistant Editor for Awardsline, rising to Crafts Editor in 2022. He received his MFA in Studio Art at The City College of New York in 2019. He contributes to the awards coverage of animation and the craft side of film and television. In his role as Crafts Editor, Ryan also contributes to the editing of Deadline's AwardsLine magazines and interviews contenders above and below the line.
Max joined Deadline in 2021 and covers the European TV industry, particularly the UK. He spent the previous four years at UK TV trade Broadcast, rising from reporter to chief reporter and focusing on public service broadcasting, the BBC and BBC Studios. He also reported on the British TV sector's diversity push and efforts to end bullying and harassment. He has regularly appeared in the national media on a variety of TV topics and has freelanced for a number of UK trade mags along with global free speech publication Index on Censorship.
Jill joined Deadline in June 2019 after working as a New York-based contributor. She follows corporate finance, deals and publicly traded companies in media and entertainment, film financing, and New York film and TV production. She was previously contributing editor at Current covering public media, and has worked at Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Dow Jones. She’s reported from New York and Europe and her stories have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Broadcasting & Cable, Adweek, Slate, Reuters and The Art Newspaper.
Melanie joined Deadline in 2022 as Senior International Film Correspondent. She came from UK trade Screen International, where she spent a decade covering film and TV news out of France, Europe and the Middle East. She has also worked for Variety and Moving Pictures as well as the UK broadsheet The Independent, entertainment magazine Heat and Japan’s The Daily Yomiuri, working out of London, Rome, Brussels, Tokyo and Jerusalem. Melanie originally trained in journalism at Reuters and spent four years there in the mid-1990s as a reporter.
Matt joined the editors desk in March 2021 after five years as Awardsline's Assistant Editor. In that role, he contributed to the coverage and editing of the magazines throughout the year, focusing on artist interviews revolving around awards season and its big nights including the Oscars and Emmys. Matt also manages the Production Value video series, which spotlights the premier craft talent working in film and TV. He also is part of Deadline's festival studio team at the likes of Sundance, Tribeca and Toronto. Before Deadline he worked at UTA, 8thDay Pictures and Infinity Management International.
Bruce joined Deadline in 2017. He has written about entertainment and technology for the likes of USA Today, Variety, Billboard, Associated Press, Yahoo! and other publications. He is the author of six books and founder of the New York and Hollywood book festivals.
Dade joined Deadline as a New York-based contributor in 2017. He leads business and Wall Street coverage as well as writing about film, TV, regulation, advertising and other East Coast happenings. Dade has spent two decades tracking the entertainment industry as a writer and editor for Variety, Entertainment Weekly and Broadcasting & Cable. His freelance work has appeared in the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and he is the author of two books and an installment of the Wondery podcast Business Wars.
Destiny joined Deadline in September 2022 from Netflix’s pop-culture news site Tudum and a freelance writing career that includes bylines at Oscars.org, Marvel, IGN, TV Guide, Script Magazine, Backstage, Filmmaker Magazine and MovieMaker Magazine to name a few. When not stuck behind her laptop, she can be found haunting her local cinema, listening to Coldplay (unironically) or looking for pictures of Spider-Man. She is based in Los Angeles.
Ted joined Deadline in 2020 and is based in Washington, D.C., where he covers politics, media and entertainment. He's reported on the intersection of politics and showbiz since 2006, as an editor and correspondent for Variety, as well as a contributor to publications such as Politico and as an on-air host for SiriusXM. He previously was a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times and TV Guide, and an editor at V Life. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and was born and raised in Minneapolis, a city that will always be home.
Jake rejoined Deadline in December 2022 after serving as Media Correspondent for The Times of London since August 2021. Previously, he was Deadline's International TV Editor for two years, during which time he broke a several exclusives on some of the highest-profile companies and organizations in Europe. He also played a key role in originating Deadline’s series The Film That Lit My Fuse and our International Insider newsletter. He is based in London.
Justin joined Deadline in July 2020 and covers all aspects of the film industry. Before Deadline, he had been with Variety since early 2008, starting as an intern before being upped to editorial assistant in 2009, and joining the film team in 2010. Before Variety, Kroll worked as a freelancer for Reuters in Los Angeles. He’s a graduate of Michigan State University.
Robert joined Deadline in 2022 after working for more than a decade as the Los Angeles Showbiz and News photo editor for the Daily Mail Online, where he also contributed as a photographic journalist for them covering London, New York and Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. His short films have been screened globally, premiering at film festivals and with online publications such as Flaunt and Hero magazine; has had solo exhibitions in London, The Netherlands and Russia; and has released four photo books. His work and editorials have been featured in The Guardian Observer, Dazed, i-D, NPR, Schön!, Autre, American Chordata, Metal Magazine, Hunger, Vice, High Snobiety and Oyster Magazine.
Diana has been working in global film journalism since 2005. Before returning to Deadline in 2021 to focus on features for international film and television, she was previously International Reporter for the site. She is based in London and has frequently covered all the major film festivals and markets including Cannes, Berlin, AFM, Toronto and Sundance. Prior to joining Deadline, Diana was the UK correspondent for Variety and also covered film news and box office at Screen International.
David returns to the entertainment business after 10 years working at "Sports Business Journal," where he launched an international digital operation. His most recent assignment was managing editor of SBJ’s esports website. Before that David had a 22-year stint with The Hollywood Reporter, rising from Copy Desk Chief to Deputy Editor – International. He also oversaw the editorial operations of the publication's film festival dailies for 15 years, growing that business from two (Cannes and Milan at the start) to include dailies in Berlin, Busan, Hong Kong, Dubai, Toronto, Tokyo and Santa Monica.
Zac joined Deadline in 2022 from Insider/Business Insider, where he started as an intern before being promoted to a full reporter. After joining the site's entertainment team in 2020 he wrote profiles and covered film and TV as well as film festivals. He is currently based in London.
Before joining Deadline in 2022, Lynette spent 22 years at Entertainment Weekly where she covered the TV business for the magazine and website. Before that she worked for The Hollywood Reporter and Broadcasting & Cable. The San Diego State graduate is the author of the 2021 bestseller "How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey's Anatomy."
Liz joined Deadline in July 2022 and is one of the most respected trade journalists and editors to have covered the Asian industry. Based in Hong Kong, she spent 15 years as Asia Editor at Screen International.
Scott has been with Deadline since 2015, working his way up from coordinator to his current position and building the site's social media infrastructure. He holds a BA in broadcast journalism. Originally from New Orleans, Shilstone has spent almost a decade in Los Angeles working in the industry including as an actor.
Natalie joined Deadline in February 2022 as Social Media Coordinator before being promoted. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. After moving from Kansas to Los Angeles, she pursued a professional dance career and then transitioned into the entertainment journalism industry. Before Deadline, she ran Hollywire’s social media accounts. You can find her on the red carpet covering premieres, award shows and events.
Tom has covered the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. He joined Deadline in 2020 after working on the homepage teams of both Yahoo and AT&T. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Premiere magazine and on The Daily Beast. Tom founded the popular industry website and newsletter HollywoodWiretap.com, which he later sold. Before that, he spent seven years at Variety, where he was the Managing Editor of Features. While there, he created the trade’s award-winning lifestyle publication, V Life, and was its Executive Editor.
Nancy joined Deadline as International Editor in 2011. She covers the global film, television and media business, with a particular focus on international box office and China; as well as various festivals and awards shows. Based in Europe for more than 25 years, Nancy is the former Editor-in-Chief of Hollywood Wiretap, and for 10 years was French Correspondent/Contributing Editor at ScreenDaily.com and Screen International. She also has worked for The New York Times as a freelance editor for its DealBook blog. Earlier in her career, Nancy was the European Media Correspondent for Inside.com and co-hosted Canal Plus’ film program "Bazar." Nancy also spent four years as reporter and editor for Variety in Paris and Los Angeles. Prior to that, she worked in the Paris office of 60 Minutes, and spent two years in the Features department of the International Herald Tribune. She lives in the south of France.
Armando joined Deadline in 2022 as Night and Weekend Editor. Based in Los Angeles, he previously served as Entertainment Editor at La Opinión and managing editor for La Vibra. His bylines have also appeared in PopSugar.
Peter, who joined Deadline in 2017, is a respected veteran TV journalist who previously worked at UK-based Broadcast, where after starting there in 2013 rose to News Editor responsible for putting together the weekly magazine as well as breaking daily news. Before that he was deputy editor of Television Business International magazine. He covers the television industry from Deadline's Los Angeles bureau.
Jesse joined Deadline in 2022 from UK TV trade Broadcast, where he had most recently been Insight Editor, overseeing features and long-form reporting. He worked across editing and commissioning and wrote news, features and long-read articles for Broadcast’s monthly magazine and website. A veteran entertainment industry journalist, he has also worked at Television Business International, where he was Editor, and at C21. He is based in London.
Damon has contributed to Deadline since 2017. As a journalist, his film features, interviews and reviews have been published in publications such as Empire, Total Film, The Guardian, The Times and The Financial Times, and as well as covering set visits and junkets, he is a regular attendee at key international film festivals. In 1998 he published his first book, Come By Sunday (Sidgwick & Jackson), a biography of British film star Diana Dors, and he is currently an advisor to the London Film Festival.
Andreas joined Deadline in 2018 covering the international and U.S. film industries, and is a regular fixture at major festivals and markets including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto and AFM. He is based in London but makes regular forays to Los Angeles. Andreas spent eight years covering the film industry at Screen International and held posts there including Chief Reporter, News Editor and Deputy Editor. He has broken hundreds of stories and has written extensively on harassment and diversity. He has also worked in film production.

Nikki’s journalism career included positions around the world with the most powerful and influential media outlets: as an Associated Press foreign correspondent in Moscow and London, Newsweek correspondent in Washington DC and Los Angeles, and Los Angeles Times staff writer covering entertainment and features. She was West Coast Editor and Hollywood columnist first for the New York Observer and then for New York Magazine.
She joined LA Weekly as its Deadline Hollywood columnist in 2002, writing about the business, politics and culture of the media and entertainment industry. In March 2006, she started Deadline Hollywood Daily, the online version of her print column. In 2009, Nikki’s blog was purchased by PMC (formerly known as Mail.com Media Corporation) and has become the authoritative source for breaking news and insider analysis/commentary in the entertainment industry.
